What is Lithium Jump Starts?

Lithium jump-starting products keep electricity flowing through devices like plugs and wires (like cables) that may not have enough power to operate. When powering up, these devices deliver the required energy and allow users to charge their devices without having to plug them in, or even charge them when they do have to charge stations nearby. If needed, they also provide backup supplies like food, water, or other items that may be lost, stolen, or damaged during events like hurricanes. It is important to note that while each company makes different models, most of them offer similar basic features: They work by connecting directly to electrical appliances or USB ports. The difference lies in materials, which vary based on manufacturer specifications. For example, some manufacturers use either aluminum or carbon fiber, while others have both in their jump-starter lineups.

1. NOCO Jump Starter

I liked this unit because of its design, it does not have a separate item that needed to adapt to as compared to other brands. So I liked the design. I used it once to charge my phone, and my phone charged, however, it took pretty much all the battery of the unit to fully charge my empty battery phone, I thought it would only use like 1/3 of the unit power, but no it used pretty much all, note my phone has a larger battery than normal, but still, I was surprised it took almost all the charge away to fully charge my phone from an empty state.. Note that this is not the main 'intended' use of this unit, but I thought it was interesting. Mostly the use is to keep it for emergencies to start up the vehicle.

I have yet to use the 'start up' feature that is meant for, so I just bought this as a precaution, just in case i need to start up my Jeep and I'm in the mountains or in the middle of nowhere, I have something that can give a little extra power to start it. Overall I'm happy with the purchase, and will only use it to charge some units in an emergency situation just to get some extra charge.

The main reason to have this is as a backup to start the vehicle in case I forget to leave something on that will drain the battery, which did happen once, and it is why I bought this unit, I don't want that to happen to me again in the middle of no-where. So yes I do think is a good safety measure to have.

2. GOOLOO Jump Starter

I've owned a number of these over the years, most of which didn't live up to their marketing information. While I will say the capacity on this appears slightly overrated based on my tests with bench testing equipment, it's by far and away the best I've used and has probably the most simple and foolproof design I've ever seen. My wife, who is about the least mechanically competent person I know, is completely comfortable jump-starting her Jeep Wrangler with this with no instruction . . . that is saying something, folks! I've gotten 6 jump starts so far without recharging (I have a known bad battery and just got the replacement shipped to me), and the key barely turns before she's purring like a kitten . . . I can't recommend it enough!

3. NEXPOW Battery Jump Starter

This little thing is a beast! I bought this after my battery died from the door being slightly ajar all night. I figured I should get something that I could keep on hand in case it happened again. I wasn't sure this would be strong enough to actually start my car, but boy was I wrong. It started it right up. I drive a big SUV and when I jump my car with friends' smaller cars it seems to take a while to charge the battery enough to get my SUV going, but this got the job done right away. I keep it in the car and take it camping in case I need to charge my phone while I'm out. If you're wondering if you should buy this, just do it! It is great to have something like this in a pinch.

4. Clore automotive jump starter

I own an auto repair shop and a farm, so between customers' cars at the shop and the many vehicles of my own, I use this on a regular basis, so much so that I keep 1 at the shop on charge and 1 in my truck. Ive had a few different brands of jump boxes and I have/had 3 JNC 660s over the years. My experience has been nothing (in the same amp rating or price) that does as good a job for as long as the JNC660. The unit that stays in my truck will sometimes be used 10-12 times without being charged and holds its charge very well. Other units I've had needed to recharge after every use. It is also a powerful unit, the rule of thumb for batteries is 1 CCA for every cubic inch of engine displacement so a 5.3 liter (327cu) gas engine would need a 350 cca battery under normal conditions. I have started diesel trucks and tractors in cold weather with this unit with no problems unless they were completely dead or had no battery in them. I typically get 3 usable years out of the JNC660, and they do include a coupon for a battery replacement, but the cost of mailing the unit back vs buying a new one on sale isn't worth it in my opinion. I have other units that have work lights and/or air compressors etc so if you desire that stuff this is not the tool for you, but if all you want is a good hard working jump box for a reasonable price this is it.

5. Halo Jumping Starter

This is a pretty good power bank and versatile with some shortcomings, two USB connections at 2.4a, neither support smart charging. The internal flashlight times out after a period of time which can be annoying if you're using the light to do something, I have not timed it but I guess it shuts after 20 or 30 mins. It charges via a 12v round plug type or included AC charger. This cannot be charged via USB. My biggest gripe is the AC is out. It works well for inflating my air mattress for camping and had enough juice to inflate a giant king-sized air mattress and deflate with 1/4 LED charge lights still on. but LED lights flicker badly, and a fan will be noisy compared to plugged into the wall. I suspect a cheap inverter is used here. A laptop runs just fine off it, and I would suspect any device with an ac to DC converter would work well. I do need to see if it plays well with audio equipment, I'll update after I do. Overall would I buy this again? Maybe, but I'd probably take a good look at others including Anker before I did. But for $99 it does a pretty good job.
